SOME UNRELATED CLINE FAMILIES OF
VIRGINIA, NORTH CAROLINA, KENTUCKY, WEST VIRGINIA AND OHIO
On May 20, 2015, an unrelated Cline, Matt Cline, wrote to me about another Cline family that may help to connect other unrelated Clines to this family:

Pickaway County, OH Clines
Another group of Clines are known to have descended from a Philip Cline Sr. (b. Nov 1760, d 8 Jun 1837). Philip Cline Sr relocated from unknown parts of Virginia to Pickaway County, OH between 1809 and 1816. Dozens of Clines in the Pickaway county area today are his descendants. Note there are also Clines in the area of a different ancestor, as well. In the 1880 Federal census, Philip Sr.’s daughter Mary A (Cline) Coonrod lists Philip Sr. as having been born in Germany. Mary A Cline herself was born 5 May 1795 in Virginia. Family lore is Philip and two brothers were soldiers in the Revolutionary War, but this story has not been substantiated nor have the two brothers been identified. Living descendants of Philip Sr’s son Jacob are believed to be in MO and AZ. Matching Y-DNA from two different branches of Philip Sr’s descendants (Philip Jr and William) show this groups’ Y-DNA haplogroup to be I1. Nicholas Cline Family of Wythe County, VA - See Nicholas Cline's page on this website;
Frederick County, Virginia Clines - In Cecil Cline's book, Clines and Allied Families of the Tug River Region, Cecil received information from David C. Cline, a direct descendant of these Clines. According to this information, three brothers from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Jacob, Anthony and Adam Kline, settled in Frederick County about 1773 and all of the Clines of this area descend from them.
Peter Cline of Kentucky and Scotland County, Missouri - See this Peter Cline's page on this website. It includes a link to a page dedicated to this Peter Cline family;
North Carolina Clines descended from Sebastian Klein (abt. 1644) through his son Moritz Klein (b. abt. 1684) - Moritz Klein emigrated to Pennsylvania in the 1700's. Later, three of his sons, Sebastian, Michael and Jacob, would emigrate to North Carolina. See the following websites for more information on this family:

http://clinereunion.com/index.htm (Cline reunion held every two years for this Cline family).
Ohio River Clines, also descended from Sebastian Klein (abt. 1644) through son Nicholas Klein (b. abt. 1676) - Hans George Klein (George Cline) settled along the Ohio River and is the descendant and grandson of Nicholas Klein, and first cousin once removed of Sebastian, Michael and Jacob Klein of North Carolina. See the websites above for the North Carolina Clines which provides some information on this branch of that family.
Both branches, North Carolina and Ohio River, trace their ancestry to a Pieter Klein (abt. 1578), the grandfather of the Sebastian Klein (b. 1644) listed above.
Of note, the DNA of the Clines the North Carolina and Ohio River are similar, though not an exact or recent match, to Peter Cline of the Tug. All are haplogroup G: the NC and Ohio River Clines are G2; Peter Cline is G2a. The G haplogroup is extremely rare in Europe.
